Artist biography
Noel McKenna is a Sydney-based artist. His practice covers a multitude of disciplines, including oil, enamel and watercolour; lithography and etching; and ceramic and metal. His subject matter tends towards the everyday, with a particular focus on the unobserved and underappreciated, hinting at narratives unfolding outside of the picture plane – animals, and the relationship they share with humans, are a frequent subject through which these ideas are explored.
Noel has regularly held solo exhibitions across Australia since the 1980s, and has been the subject of several significant museum exhibitions in both New Zealand and Australia. His work is held in many public and private collections throughout both countries.
